Most esports sponsorships are bought on gut feel and sold on impressions. A brand pays for a logo, gets a screenshot of a big viewership number, and has no idea whether it moved a single customer. It doesn’t have to work that way.
This is a plain-language guide to what esports sponsorships cost in 2026 and — the part almost everyone skips — how to measure whether one paid off.
On the numbers below. Sponsorship pricing is opaque and negotiated case by case, so the ranges here are indicative — a way to sanity-check a quote, not a fixed rate card. Real figures depend on the game, region, audience, exclusivity and the year’s demand. The results we cite from named campaigns are exact.
The four things you can sponsor
Esports sponsorship isn’t one product. It’s four, with very different price tags and very different returns.
| What you sponsor | Indicative range | What you actually get |
|---|---|---|
| Tier-1 tournament (title / presenting) | $250K–2M+ per event | Event naming, broadcast integration, on-site, social |
| Tournament official partner | $50K–250K per event | Logo, broadcast mentions, activation rights |
| Team — front of jersey (tier-1) | $500K–3M+ per year | Front-of-jersey, all team content, appearances |
| Team — sleeve / secondary | $75K–400K per year | Secondary placement, social, some content |
| Broadcast / segment sponsor | $20K–150K per event | Segment branding, replays, lower-thirds |
| Player / creator content deal | $2K–50K per activation | Native content and streams from the talent |
The pattern: the higher up you go, the more you pay for exposure and the less of it is measurable. A tournament title is a brand play. A creator content layer is a performance play. Most brands need both — and price them differently.
Why most sponsorships can’t prove ROI
Because they’re measured in the wrong currency: impressions and “media value.” Those numbers are real but they don’t tell you if anyone signed up. Three fixes:
- Attach a trackable layer. Under every big-logo deal, run a creator/content layer with unique links and codes. That’s the part you can actually measure.
- Define the conversion before signing. Registration, install, funded account — pick one and instrument it from day one.
- Separate brand from performance in the budget. Judge the title sponsorship on lift and recall; judge the creator layer on CPA. Don’t hold one to the other’s standard.

What “measurable” looks like in practice
The measurable layer is where esports marketing earns its keep. A few real reference points from our work:
- Performance over exposure. For AB InBev’s TheCoolDown we ran a performance-only creator giveaway across mature gaming communities and cut cost-per-register from €2.50 to €0.32 — 38,000 registrations, an 87.3% lower CPR. That’s a sponsorship-adjacent activation with a hard number attached.
- Reach that’s native, not bolted on. For the Esports World Cup’s Arabic TikTok we built 205.5M+ views and 208K followers with dialect-native content — reach a logo placement can’t buy.
- Execution at broadcast level. For PUBG Esports with BLAST we ran live social coverage across 9 consecutive event days with 100% on-time delivery and zero missed posts — on-site, not from an office watching a stream.
How to buy a sponsorship you can defend
- Start from the audience, not the trophy. The biggest event you can afford is the wrong filter. The right filter is where your customer already is — game, region, language.
- Buy the layer you can measure, then scale the layer you can’t. Prove the creator/content layer converts, then add the flag-planting title deal on top.
- Negotiate activation rights, not just placement. A logo you can’t build a campaign around is a donation. Rights to content, codes and creator access are what make it perform.
- Go native in-region. In esports, local creators and local language beat a translated central campaign — every time.
